Depends on age &race: Currently annual PSA blood test & digital rectal exam is recommended for Caucasians age 50 & over but from age 40 in African Americans who are at risk for prostate cancer at an earlier age. Many feel it is not necessary to have PSA tested over age 75 years because late developing tumors are very slow growing with low malignancy. It is said that incidence of prastate cancer reaches 100% at age-100.
