Pregnant?: You are either pregnant or you're not. If you are pregnant your period will not come. If your HCG level is under the detectable minimum of the over-the-counter test, then you may be pregnant, but it may be too early to tell, in which case you probably aren't even late for a period. But the HCG level rises quickly and won't remain undetectable for long. Late ovulation causes a late period.
