Home pregnancy tests are accurate. The delay of your menstruation may be due to delay in ovulation, which of course postpones the onset of the next menstruation. See your GYN physician for guidance and additional testing.

If you were pregnant, a properly done home pregnancy test would be positive at 10 days after a missed period. You may get blood test for HCG level to settle the issue. Menstrual irregularities are not uncommon and anovulatory cycle is a common cause. If you miss more than two periods it would be time to see your doctor. If you do not wish to be pregnant, use contraception all the time.
