I've taken four 1 ml im injections of iron dextran (50mg/1ml) this past week and ferritin has not increased at all. can results take this long?

Anemia : Yes it can . It depends on the base line ferritin level when you started the iron replacement . The lower it was the longer it takes to raise the ferritin levels.

Absolutely: It is likely to be weeks to see increase in hgb, and longer for a ferritin rise.
