A member asked:

If you drink a moderate amount of alcohol (3) the day before bloodworm will you be likely to show results that are high liver enzymes?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Alcohol and liver: Yes you may. There is one liver enzyme in particular that is quite sensitive to alcohol, the ggtp. The 2 major other enzymes, the ast and the alt, are less sensitive to brief alcohol intake, but understand that 3 drinks is considered to be above normal. If you were taking in 3 drinks daily for a few days preceding the test, the results might well be elevated.
