A member asked:

Reason/prognosis for blood on stool and in bowl for approximately 5 months with varying amounts of blood from a little to a lot?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

See GI/CRS: You need to see a GI specialist or colorectal surgeon. There are a multitude of causes, from benign or malignant tumors to benign anorectal disease, such as hemorrhoids, fissures, or fistulas. Regardless of your age, persistent bloody stools need to be investigated. So, ask your primary care provider to assist you in obtaining a referral. Good luck.
