Skin lighteners: There are a number of physician-grade skin lighteners or bleaching agents. Historically, hydroquinone has been used. In concentrations of 4% or less, this is generally considered safe for intermittent use. There are a number of other similar agents that may or may not be safer, if not quite as effective. Remember that keeping uv-a sunlight off of the skin is critical to achieving lighter skin.
