Muscle CPK: Elevated CPK indicates muscle fiber breakdown. This can occur from statins. He must stop them. Myositis can also occur from a rheumatic illness, such as polymyositis, mixed connective disease, or lupus. Some infections elevate CPK, like flu. Even predisone can weaken muscles and promote a muscle breakdown. Stopping statins is essential. Having a dx is essential.
