Tendinitis/strain: Some things to consider, are that a tight muscle in the leg, will hurt in the leg and the tendon from that muscle runs around the ankle into the foot where it attaches to a bone. When this muscle is tight, it will hurt in the leg and also will be sore where the tendon attaches. First of for treatment comes rest. It should be pain free at rest. At such a time, passive stretching will help.
