A member asked:

Is there any connection to long term (over 10 years) use of opioids and osteoarthritis, bone degeneration?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Let me explain: The chronic abuse of opioid drugs may be associated with altered bone metabolism and reduced trabecular bone mass, attributable, at least in part, to gonadal deficiency. These alterations seem reversible after drug discontinuation.
