A member asked:

Why does diamox (acetazolamide) causing ringing in my ears? my pressure is normal from iih and have no headaches or papilledima.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Side effect: Ringing in the ears (tinnitus) is an infrequent side effect of diamox (acetazolamide). Discuss this with your treating physician to see if your dose can be lowered. I presume you are taking it for idiopathic intracranial hypertension, in which your brain fluid pressure (CSF) was elevated, ; now you report it's back to normal. That's great. Your physician will decide on the safest tapering dose for you.
