A member asked:

If an s1 nerve was getting slightly irritated, would it be localized just to the back or would it also run down the leg?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Usually referred: Lumbosacral nerve root irritation is typically a radiating pain down back of leg to foot, "sciatica", and this may be seen whether root is fully compressed or mildly contacted. If you experience only low back pain, the nerve root is probably not at all in danger.
