Fevers: Use a humidifier in his room, Vicks baby rub on the chest at night before bedtime. You can alternate tylenol (acetaminophen) and motrin; they act in different ways. Keep in mind that sometimes fevers are beneficial; if he appears comfortable and is eating and drinking ok, you don't need to treat it. Treat the patient - not the temperature. And lots of fluids! good luck!

Abnormal pattern: If your son has been febrile every day for a week, it would be a mistake to believe that this is due to a simple viral infection. The fever that is associated with colds and minor infections runs a shorter course. There are several serious problems that cause prolonged fever and he should be evaluated. Other symptoms and signs help to guide the needed evaluation. Discuss with your pediatrician.
