With fever you say?: "plugging up" diarrhea will not cure an infection, fix an inflammatory process, improve an ischemic gut, or correct a functional issue. Medical evaluation is recommended asap given her fever ; persistence of her symptoms. Any other associations (bleeding, weight loss, pain, vomiting), as well as your other medical co-morbidities? Don't put either baby or mom at risk--get her to the doctor today.

Best to call Dr.: In general, taking clear liquids only for the first 24 hours of diarrhea is a safe home treatment measure, but since the patient is pregnant, it is best to check with her doctor. Most times you get diarrhea because there is something inside your intestines that the body doesn't want there, and it is trying to get rid of it. Anytime there is blood in diarrhea see a doctor.
