What else?: Did you get any info about the sinus pressure or headache? Ct sinus ordered? Any treatment? Small nostril openings may not explain all of your symptoms.

CAT scan: The size of your nostril has nothing to do with the development of rhino-sinusitis. The cause of sinus infection whether viral or bacterial is blockage of the lateral wall of the nose. If the ENT doctor did not order a cat scan of the paranasal sinuses, he may doubt that you have sinus inflammation. The cause of the small opening may be a severely deviated nasal septum. Top swelling of what?

Sinus pain/pressure: The openings for drainage from the sinuses r quite small (see image). Inflammation from infxn or allergies can further reduce size of these passages or even block them completely. If decongestants (sudafed, xxx-d) don't work well enough, surgery may b needed to widen the passages. Ent surgeons do that kind of surgery. Discuss with your ENT if surgery is necessary.
