Not necessarily: Pain should not define when the best time to have sex is for trying to conceive. When you ovulate, regardless of pain, is the best time to try. If your sex is painful, you can try using lubrication and going very slowly, but mainly, get evaluated for the dyspareunia (painful sex).

Fertile: If you know when you ovulate, this is helpful in getting pregnant. The egg lasts about one day and sperm can survive 3to5 days. Try planning intercourse just before ovulation if this is less painful. Your obgyn can give you the best advice.
