Tough to say: Routine screening for and treatment of asymptomatic bacterial vaginosis is not recommended despite some studies showing a benefit in decreasing preterm labor. Treatment of symptomatic bacterial vaginosis is currently recommended mainly to treat bothersome symptoms. This is a controversial subject matter at this time.
