Know the basics...: Sickle cell is due to the blood cell changing shape and causing damage or obstruction. Any 'stress' makes it worse so stay hydrated, avoid infection, take deep breaths, avoid temperature changes and always have a low threshold for seeing/talking to the doctor. Furthermore - see the doctor routinely for routine monitoring and education!
