Please provide some do's and don'ts on dealing with a kidney infection.

Ignore: Do hydrate yourself well, do seek medical attention quickly.

Ignore: Do continue to hydrate during a kidney infection.

Ignore: Make sure the organism is cultured to get the best antibiotic therapy.

Ignore: For a kidney infection, see a MD to get your blood and urine cultured and start on antibiotics.

Ignore: This can rapidly become a life threatening infection. Seek medical attention early on.

Ignore: Do take medications as prescribed. do stay well hydrated. Do follow all doctors advice.

Ignore: Always get urine sample. Do not delay treatment. Drink plenty of fluids. Take all prescribed pills.

Ignore: Hydration: 8-10 glasses of water, Urine checks, abstain sexually for 1 week...regular exams.

Ignore: Do use a heating pad on your abdomen/back/side to help with pain. Do stay hydrated—avoid caffeine.

Ignore: Do take all of your medications and call your doctor if you start vomiting.

Ignore: Follow up with your doctor if you have a kidney infection and complete all medications as instructed.

Ignore: ALWAYS have a urine culture done before starting antibiotics. Kidney infections can be serious.

Ignore: Take antibiotics as directed until they are gone.

Ignore: If you have fever, flank pain , cloudy urine call your doctor for treatment. Don't stay at home !

Drink: Drink fluids. Get urine cultured for bacteria and antibiotic sensitivity! Take your meds!
