Antibiotics.: A kidney infection is potentially serious. It should be treated aggressively to limit kidney damage and prevent blood infections, a dangerous complication. E. Coli is the most common cause, and treatment is with antibiotics. The culture result that revealed e. Coli should also show which antibiotics are appropriate. A full course should be taken. Serious infections will require IV anitbiotics.
