I had heard that you can't give children under 1 years old chocolate. is there any medical truth to this? or just just a wives tail?

Mostly fiction: The recommendation is a carry over from older studies , in which the allergen was other items rather than chocolate, such as soy, nuts, or milk. Recent studies show no adverse effect of chocolate in children, including a seven week study of elementary school children in australia. Dark chocolate or cocoa are safest , and have been used since the mayans for diarrhea and constipation. Avoid milk choco.
