A bit long: A cough and chesty cold for 10 days is a bit long for a typical viral infection. You don't say whether you have a fever, sweats, chills, are short of breath or feel ill. The absence of those is somewhat reassuring, but not enough to say there is nothing to be concerned about. With your history of dm it would be best for you to see your doctor for an evaluation.
