Past impacts present: Ptsd is experience by folks who have been through a traumatic event, often war, abuse, grave danger, etc. It can manifest w/hyper-vigilance, strong startle response, nightmares, emotional isolation, and the like. It is a normal response to trauma and as one adjusts the symptoms resolve. Professional help can speed the healing process, especially if one feels stuck in this pattern.
