There are many: There are 3 symptom clusters: intrusive recollections, avoidant/numbing symptoms, and hyper-arousal symptoms. These must last over 1 month long and cause functional distress in the person's life. Please see http://www.Ptsd.Va.Gov/professional/pages/dsm-iv-tr-ptsd.Asp for the full dsm criteria and symptoms.

Dr Chen : Provided an excellent answer. Are you fearful and hypervigilant? Jump a mile high if someone comes up behind you or there is a loud noise? Are you avoiding the people who are important to you? Do you avoid people, places or things that remind you of the trauma? Do you find yourself pushing away intrusive memory or feelings? Are you emotionally numb some of the time & enraged at others?
