Why is red color preferred for reflection of light from retina? is green an option?

Depends upon goal: The retina in its surface is largely reddish orange and will reflect red light preferentially over green. Green however, will more likely be absorbed since it is the complementary color to red. Behind the retina is the pigment epithelium, dark, which absorbs all colors.
