Balance: You need a balanced diet to build muscle. Fruit supplies carbs (which you need), vit c, fluids, and fiber, at a minimum. Yes, you need protein, which body builders often do to excess (your body can only use so much). A normal balanced diet is probably all you need, but if you want to use supplements, why not alternate between smoothies and protein supplements.
