Can condoms prevent hepatitis c infection?

Yes: Hepatitis c can be transmitted through sexual contact but it is rare. <5% of spouses who have long term sexual contact with a hepatitis C positive spouse will develop hepatitis c. Condoms are recommended and screening of the household contacts are encouraged.

Yes: Absolutely! though there's been controversy about whether hepatitis C is transmitted through sexual intercourse, i believe that the consensus is that it can be. Condoms, in addition to helping prevent hiv, hpv, herpes, and a host of other std's, can help prevent transmission of hepatitis b and c.

Yes: It is believed that hepatitis C can be transmitted through body fluids so use of a condom is appropriate in preventing hepatitis c. In addition, it is advised to not share toothbrushes or other utensils where body fluid can be exchanged.
