Time: This can take a lot of time. Sometimes up to a year. Blunt orbital trauma that causes " black eyes" break small blood vessels in the skin and in deeper tissues of the orbit. As the blood absorbs hemosiderin which is the iron component of red blood cells is left over and can take months to completely go away.
