Referred symptoms: The throat is innervated by a number of nerves, including the vagus nerve. The vagus nerve also innervates the posterior canal skin. It is likely that you have referred symptoms from the throat via the vagus nerve from the throat to the ear canal skin. Usually the referred symptom is pain, but I suppose itching could also occur. The primary problem is in the throat and not the ear.
