It's ok: Excess ear wax can be a problem when it completely blocks the canal and causes ear fullness and hearing loss. You would need to be seen to determine if you have an impaction.

Mainly obstruction: Usually excess wax leads to obstruction and associated hearing loss. Sometimes the canal may become itchy. Occasionally water can get trapped leading to possible canal infection.
