A member asked:

Can you tell me is children's tylenol (acetaminophen) just as effective if it's expired by 1 year?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Expiration Dates: Expiration dates are placed on medications because after this date they slowly become less and less effective. You should throw away any expired medications because not only do you take the chance it won't work but it is unknown how the ingredients may change over an extended time and we don't know what effect it will have on the person taking the medication, .
