Generally, yes: Despite some differences in diets, most studies have shown that it is less a matter of how many carbohydrates, fats and protein are in a diet, but rather the sum total of calories going in that makes the biggest difference. It is more the palatibility or appeal of the diet that allows the dieter to stick with it, and different kinds of diets are different in that regard. Exercise is also critical.
