May be: Chives and garlic are distant relatives of the same botanic family. Therefore, some people may tolerate chives, if garlic allergic (more common and usually more severe). If you did not have a life-threatening reaction to garlic, you can try chives on your own. If you had a severe reaction, either avoid chives or see an allergist to be tested.
