Seek help: One possibility is a condition called restless leg syndrome. An overnight sleep test can determine this and/or other conditions that may be at play. A sleep specialist can then diagnose and recommend the right treatment for your friend.

RLS : Restless legs syndrome and plmd are treated with Dopamine agonists such as ropinirole (approved in rls) or pramipexole. There are many reports in the literature of exacerbation of these symptoms by antidepressants (e.g.Zoloft). If tests reveal that iron levels are low iron supplementation may be prescribed. These patients may also benefit from sleep aids at night.
