Yes: Protonix (pantoprazole) needs to be taken around 30 min before the first meal of the day. In case of severe reflux symptoms, you can double the dose to twice a day. But as with any ppi, you should take longer than 1 -2 months without being consulted by a physician. Long term side effects may be dangerous such as osteoporosis, hip fracture, bacterial overgrowth etc.
