Healthy diet: Hi. You could have your doctor refer you to a nutritionist if you want more detail. I recommend HEALTHY: whole grains, nuts, legumes, fruits & veggies, healthy oils (canola & olive), lean meats, nonfat dairy; ELIMINATE OR MINIMIZE INTAKE OF simple sugar, saturated fat, white flour, processed foods, fast food. Regular exercise for life is of course excellent in addition to healthy diet.

Yes: and sugar is empty calories that lead to weight gain. You will feel better and your body will be healthier if you eat a healthy balanced diet and minimize the sugars.

Diabetes.: Eating a lot of simple sugars won't make you diabetic, but might uncover a propensity towards such that may already be there due to obesity and/or family history.
