No: There is a condition called reye syndrome that has been associated with the use of Aspirin by children when treating a viral illness. This syndrome affect the brain and liver and is fatal 20% of the time. It is very rare now as Aspirin use in children has decreased.

No!: Aspirin is not safe for young infants and children and can lead to reyes's syndrome if they have the flu. Use Acetaminophen (tylenol)!

Consider this: Giving kids under 16 aspirin containing products during or after the flu has been linked with abrupt liver failure and death after a period of coma. The process was 1st recognized in the late 1960's, peaked in the 70's and began to disappear after we stopped giving aspirin to kids. It is now rarely used for a narrow group of patients, but never flu.
