Does post strep agn causes juvenile arthritis?

Cause- no, but....: Post-strep agn is an autoimmune response by the body where the antibodies your body made to fight the strep bacteria think parts of your kidneys are strep bacteria too.The antibodies attack and cause the agn. You can also have where these same antibodies think your joint linings are strep bacteria too and wrongfully attack those tissues. But this would not be jia (it would be post-strep arthritis).

Post Strep arthritis: A few weeks after having a Strep infection, the immune system can be triggered to attack the joints and/or heart. When this happens, one can suffer temporary arthritis and permanent damage to the heart valves. This is called rheumatic fever. Penicillin is prescribed to prevent future Strep infections.
