Needs followup: There is often no apparent trigger to hypertension and it can come on insidiously.Picking it up at a random office visit or at a kiosk is not unusual. Your doc will need to follow this up to see if it persists and do some baseline tests. You can do a lifestyle audit to identify items like salty foods or caffeine that aggravate hypertension. Long term medication may be needed to control it.
