May not matter: It probably doesn't matter, assuming the toe is not deformed. Treatment for a bad bruise or an undisplaced fracture would be the same, that is, symptomatic treatment to control pain. The only way to tell if it is fractured would be to get an x-ray. Just use some nsaids and wear a comfortable shoe or sandal that doesn't put pressure on your toe.
