Is it true that you have to stop taking zoloft (sertraline) one week prior to having cellulaze. if so, why?

No: There does not seem to be any reason for you to stop the zoloft (sertraline) before this procedure.

Yes: Cellulaze is done under local tumescent anesthesia with lidocaine. Because Zoloft (sertraline) can interfere with your body's metabolism of the lidocaine it is recommended that you stop for a few days prior to the procedure. Continuing Zoloft (sertraline) before your procedure can increase your risk of lidocaine toxicity. For more information: http://www.omahacosmeticsurgery.com/cellulite-treatement/cellulaze/
