Slow down: Oftentimes , the use of a tretinoin-containing topical can cause irritation , redness and peeling. The best approach is to wait a few days and restart the medication and apply every other or every third night to help with tolerability. Also the use of a light moisturizer such as cetaphil or cerave may be of help.

A normal reaction: This is a normal reaction when using acretin. It would irritate and peel the skin. If you stop using it, in a few days it would be back to normal. You may use otc cortizone-10 to speed up the "healing" if you wish it go away fast.

3-5 days: Acretin is a topical retinoid. Their main side effect is skin irritation. I would back off until the redness and peeling subside, then restart every 2-3 days. The proper amount is a small pea size of cream divided into 4 areas, the forehead , each cheek and chin. If doing well try to gradually increase every few weeks to nightly use or as tolerated. The retinoids can be very helpful for acne.

Normal Reaction: This is a typical reaction when someone begins using a topical retinoid for the first time. I often recommend using the medicine every other day or every third day for the first couple weeks until your body gets used to it. In addition make sure to always use moisturizer after applying the medicine, it can help with some of the dryness caused by it.
