Exam: Pelvic exams scare me too! Unfortunately they do have to be done. Let your doctor know it is the first time you have done this. He or she will explain what goes on and it will be over. A pelvic exam usually consists of the doctor looking at the outside of your genitals. Then they usually do a speculum exam (the most uncomfortable part) and then they touch your cervix,
