Pharyngitis: You may have pharngitis which is most commonly viral. The yellow spot on your tonsil may be secondary to the infection. In some cases patients can get bacterial infections with streptococcus or other bacteria such as chlamydia and gonorrhea. The yellow spot could be an abscess. Some bacteria are resistant to certain antibiotics. You may need a throat culture.

Tonsil Spot: Concretions or "yellow spots" that are found on tonsils are small collections of particles that the tonsils have pulled together as part of their normal function. They do not indicate an infection or anything bad or abnormal.
