No: If you are truly a type 1 diabetic, then the main treatment for you is insulin. Avoiding Insulin in a type 1 is just going to make you sicker. Lifestyle changes can decrease the amount of Insulin needed to keep your blood sugar normal but you do need to consume adequate amount of calories.
