See your doctor!: Maroon stools indicate a significant amount of blood in your stool. That can happen for other reasons besides colon cancer, but you will almost certainly need a colonoscopy. Don't put it off!

It is possible: You definitely nee dto be evaluated by your primary care doctor. There are many reasons for maroon stools - many of which are not from a cancer. However, the presence of maroon stools does require investigation.
