A member asked:

Is there a link between toxoplasma gondii and mental diseases in patients without immunodepressive disorders?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Toxoplasmosis: Toxoplasmosis has been associated with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, and schizophrenia. Numerous studies found a positive correlation between latent toxoplasmosis and suicidal behavior in humans. All humans who have had this disease, whether symptomatic or not, now have a living parasite in their brains, but do not get encephalitis unless immunodeficient.
