Yes: The air in the smallest parts of our lungs (air sacs or alveoli) are in equilibrium with blood in tiny blood vessels called capillaries. A breathalyzer requires a deep exhalation to get the air in those small airways, and measuring the alcohol content of that air is strongly coordinated with the level of alcohol in the blood. It can be altered by temperature and by poor efforts at exhalation.
