Surgery: Biliary colic is due to stones in the gallbladder that obstruct the duct. It is extremely painful. Sometimes a lowfat diet and nothing to eat except liquids can mitigate the pain, but in general to prevent acute cholecystitis, and pancreatitis, the gallbladder needs to be removed.
