Yes.: The elderly, infants and kids, those with a lowered immune system (hiv, cancers, etc), and pregnant women are much more likely to get complications from any type of flu. That's why flu vaccines are so important- even if you don't fall into one of these categories, you may be around someone who does. Give your grandmother a poem for the holidays, not the flu.

Yes: The elderly are especially likley to have complications of influenza. Other chronic illnesses may be present and recoverey longer.
